bristol-palin-baby-brother.jpgHere’s what mom and dad had to say about their teenage daughter’s pregnancy:

We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support. Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.

The Palin’s are like Jed Clampets and his family moving to the white house instead of Beverely Hills

God Bless the Palin Family and shame on all of those judgemental people who think it could never happen to them. I admire the entire family!

  3. From Kelly

I fully support the Palin Family. Anyone who judges them is ignorant. (Not sure how you can compare the Clampets to the Palins???)

  4. From mary

    she’s got my vote

I didn’t even know who this woman was. Even though she has rules and things, I wanted to know if she had them in her own house. I not against that her daughter is pregnant because I have three of my own at an early age but I got married. If you stand for something for your country and you stand by rules and all, you should stand by them in your own home as well, because once you come in the public eye some people are seeing the same thing.

She lost my vote. Can’t be a good parent; why should she even be running?

  7. From Joanne

It won’t affect my vote…would we have rather she forced her daughter to have an abortion because of what “we’ would think? Doesn’t even reflect on her parenting skills…just means she’s just like everyone else.

Sarah Palin is awsome and I think she is a great mom. She still has my vote.

Sarah Palin is a fine woman who is not afraid to call a spade a spade. As for her oldest daughter being pregnant, it could happen to any of us or our children. Surely we can all remember back to the years when we were teenagers, a cute guy who we all thought we were madly in love with, that romantic song on the radio, and all those hormones flying around. Things could get out of control with a blink of an eye!

My friend said it best “I am not going to say anything, because I don’t have mine raised yet. Anything could happen, no matter how good a parent you are.” Also a quote of my mother’s; “The good girls are the ones who get ‘caught’, the bad girls are already on the pill.”

So go Sarah! and be the best that you can be!

and if one of the Democratic candidates had a pregnant daughter, would we even be having this discussion? come on… having a pregnant daughter does not make somebody a bad parent, nor does it disqualify them from becoming a VP. that’s pathetic.

Palin is a fraud. She tried to hide the pregnancy and only admitted to it because the media found out. Bristol was instructed to hold her lil brother the whole time so that her stomach would not be noticed. This young girl should not have to go through this media ignorance but my problem is Gov.Palin is a fraud and very inexperienced. Check out http://www.theultimateappeal.freeblogsite.com under the politics category and you will see an article that depicts out every lie she told in her acceptance speech and you will see the lies corrected.

I also had a daughter who got pregnant at a very early age. I was a stay at home mom, a very pro-active mom, and I spoke to my children about protection and abstaining. I did everything I could do short of locking her in a closet. In the end, it was her choice. It doesn’t make me a bad parent. It doesn’t make Palin a bad parent. It just means that our children have chosen a different path, and will now have a more difficult life than we would have chosen for them. I’m not a Dem. or Repub., and I won’t base my vote on the choices of the children.

Bristol’s pregnancy simply humanizes the family. We have seen so many political stars fall to earth AFTER they have attained office that it is almost a breath of fresh air to have this issue out in the open now. Palin is a strong, intelligent woman, mother and politican. SHE has my vote.

  14. From Kathy

To Brooklyn, Congratulations that you are the perfect human being who has made no mistakes in life. How dare you assume that Sarah Palin is not a good parent. We truly don’t know her, but it looks like she is a working mom doing her best to raise her five children and to create a better world for them and her future grandchildren. A real congratualtions to the Palins on their future grandchild. A baby is always a blessing from God no matter what the circumstances surrounding the baby’ birth!

We can all talk to our childred…male & female…about teen pregnancy & birth control but we cannot be with them 24/7. Having an unwed teen becoming a parent doesn’t mean we as parents failed.
Another kudo goes to the Palins for not hiding their special needs son from the media.I applaud the family for being upfront on the stage.

    You go Sarah!!

  16. From Kristi

She is a person who is real and has more experience than O’bama. If she had decided not to join the ticket with McCain due to her daughter’s mistake her daughter would have to live with that guilt for the rest of her life. I think she’s a great parent for accepting the nomination and showing her daughter life will go on through the hard times. The media can stop their negative comments towards Sarah because they clearly aren’t working. WE THE PEOPLE will decide who we want for President and VP and vote accordingly!

  17. From Kentucky

Palin is a wonderful choice for VP…Actually she’d be a great choice for President Too!! Alaskan women are strong. You have to be to live in that part of the world. Alaska is a wonderful place. A place where people are can be themselves. Palin shows that she’s a very bright, strong woman! She will be a great choice for our country!!
    She definitely has my vote.

  18. From Jessica

The debate over her daughters pregnancy is ridiculous and disappointing. Bristol is a 17 year old fully capable of making her own mistakes. Since when is an almost fully grown child having sex out of wedlock an indication of bad parenting? It’s sad that everyone now knows everything about the Palin families personal life in complete tabloid style, but few are actually taking the time to get to know Sarah as a presidential candidate.

  19. From Kimberley

When Britney’s teenage sister Jamie Lynn got pregnant everyone complained about it and blamed bad parenting as the reason for her pregnancy and not just a “good girl who got caught” What makes Sarah Palin a better mother than Lynn Spears and all the other mothers who got and will continue to get judged because their children “chose a different path”
    Talk about your double standards.

[...] Let me start off by saying that there is nothing wrong with bringing a life into the world in a home full of love and dedication to the thriving support of that life…at any age. But, will Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy affect your vote?  [...]

  21. From Sue

I cannot imagine that any woman who wanted Hillary Clinton to be nominated would even dream of putting Sarah Palin in the same class. Sarah Palin is pro-life and a creationist, just for starters. Please don’t insult the intelligence of those who believe in Hillary Clinton.

  22. From Manda

hmmmm comparing the palins to the clampets, sounds a bit ignorant to me.. so I bet you are voting for Obama which is about right for your type of comment… NO sense! As for those who think she is a bad mother because her daughter got pregnant, well I bet your children are just perfect. Some of you need to do better research before posting. She never tried to hide her daughter’s pregnancy. Go ahead and vote Obama so we can all point the finger at you when our nation will be in more trouble than it is now!

Have something to add? Of course you do! So post it here:
