Tatum O’Neal was arrested in NYC around 7:30 pm on Sunday for purchasing crack cocaine. O’Neal, 44, quickly attempted to use her craft as an excuse saying to the arresting officers “You know who I am, right? I’m researching a part - I’m doing this for a part.”

Really Tatum, this is all for a role?! Ohh is that why the cops found a crack pipe on you?

Tatum O’Neal famously won an Oscar at age 10 for her role in Paper Moon, making her the youngest person to ever win an Academy Award. The actress famously wrote in her 2004 memoir “A Paper Life” that alcoholism and drug addiction are in her DNA and have always been a part of her life. Tatum O’Neal lost custody of her children in 1998 as a result of her drug problems. She has three children (Kevin, 22, Sean, 20, and Emily, 17) with tennis superstar John McEnroe, to whom she was married to from 1986-1992.

O’Neal spent Sunday night in jail at the Seventh Precinct and was released without bail on Monday morning.

Hilary Duff has been trying to shed her wholesome, squeaky-clean image for years now. First, she tried dating the tattooed rock star, which didn’t work. Now she’s trying the whole “scandalous-movie-role” route a la Lindsay Lohan in I Know Who Killed Me (though the jig was up by then for Lindsay.)

Hilary Duff plays Yonica Babyyeah an outrageous Middle Eastern pop star in War, Inc., which opened last night at the TriBeCa Film Festival in NYC. War, Inc. co-stars John Cusack and Marisa Tomei. The political satire, set in fictional Turaqistan, features a particularly bizarre scene in which the former Lizzie McGuire star drops a scorpion down her pants.

This will definately breaks her squeaky image, though I doubt Ms. Duff anticipated that it would also cost her credibility as a serious actress. Oops!

Reasons Why I Wish I Was Blake Lively:

1. Her “work clothes” are from the illustrious closet of the tres-glam stylist Ms. Patricia Fields (of Sex and the City fame.)
2. She’s kissed the ever-so-dreamy Chace Crawford.
3. The obscenely cute toy puppy Penny that she totes around everywhere.
4. She always manages to look flawless but still like a real person (unlike glam ladies Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie.)
5. Last, but not least, the gorgeous Chanel bag on her arm.

J Lo and Marc Anthony left little Max and Emme home for a few hours so they could attend the premiere of the new Rolling Stones documentary movie, Shine a Light, at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York.
