Birthdays with The Jonas Brothers

August 18th, 2008 by Vicki

Joe Jonas on the set of the brothers latest video

Who’s cuter than the Jonas Brothers? Okay, that was a rhetorical question since we don’t exactly expect an answer. And if you have a favorite brother, that sure would be something since we can’t decide who we’re crushing on most!

Joe Jonas, the middle brother, turned 19 years-old on Friday, August 15. As for his birthday gift? A motorcycle and sidecar from his family of course.

He told Radio Disney “I’m pumped!”

Now we wonder if this means he’ll abandon his plans to buy a Corvette?

Don’t miss our interview with the boys!

Entertainment plus kids equals Create a Play

August 2nd, 2008 by Vicki

Dirty Sock gets the kids groovin

What’s better than this? Forget the Lindsay Lohan headlines or the cranked up Brit-o-meter in the news. The Brangelina bunch can be put on the backburner for at least a minute, right?

Here’s one tidbit that will make you smile. At least it did for us.

The high energy gang from the Dirty Sock Funtime Band, as seen on Noggin, are at it again with their fun-filled creative music and this time children are the ones taking center stage. While the band makes a special appearance at the Create-A-Play Summer camp, a program of the NYC non-profit Kids Creative (founded by the president of Dirty Sock), they’ll also witness imaginations at work directly from the campers.

Instead of making s’mores and telling ghost stories around a campfire, this empowering camp program nurtures the elementary and middle aged kids’ creative energy. In fact, the kids wrote and produced (and yes, will star in) four brand new musicals on August 5th and 6th for their friends, family, and the local community at PS 191 at 61st Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.

Impressed yet? Within each play there are themes about global issues like poverty, environment, and economic inequality. According to one inside source they’ll peacefully solve the day with the aid of unicorns, knights, and a giant man made out of money.

Ali Lohan: first listen

July 9th, 2008 by Caroline

Ali Lohan is about to release an album and become an even bigger train wreck than her big sister Lindsay. Here’s her first single.

Didn’t mean to make your ears bleed. Sorry about that.

Corey Haim was touched, but not by an angel

June 23rd, 2008 by Caroline

Corey & Corey
by wutwutinthebutt

Did ya miss The Two Coreys this week? Of course you did; no one watches that crap. But this would have been the week to watch. Corey Haim claims his severe, decades-long drug habit was caused by hisbeing raped at the age of 14, and that he was molested by a close friend of bestie Corey Feldman.

Hmmm. Know who Feldman was close friends with, who has a history of nastiness with young boys? MICHAEL JACKSON. Interesante, no?

Tatum O’Neal caught buying crack

June 2nd, 2008 by Allison

Tatum O’Neal was arrested in NYC around 7:30 pm on Sunday for purchasing crack cocaine. O’Neal, 44, quickly attempted to use her craft as an excuse saying to the arresting officers “You know who I am, right? I’m researching a part - I’m doing this for a part.”

Really Tatum, this is all for a role?! Ohh is that why the cops found a crack pipe on you?

(Above: Tatum O’Neal leaving the 7th Precinct with an unidentified, sweaty male friend.)

Tatum O’Neal famously won an Oscar at age 10 for her role in Paper Moon, making her the youngest person to ever win an Academy Award. The actress famously wrote in her 2004 memoir “A Paper Life” that alcoholism and drug addiction are in her DNA and have always been a part of her life. Tatum O’Neal lost custody of her children in 1998 as a result of her drug problems. She has three children (Kevin, 22, Sean, 20, and Emily, 17) with tennis superstar John McEnroe, to whom she was married to from 1986-1992.

O’Neal spent Sunday night in jail at the Seventh Precinct and was released without bail on Monday morning.

Miley Cyrus thanks fans at Disney World Games

May 5th, 2008 by Joel D Amos

Miley Cyrus has not been shy about confronting her photo controversy head-on. Why should her appearance at Disney World Saturday night be surprising to those who are covering the Vanity Fair story?

The queen of pop culture was at Walt Disney World in Orlando as part of the Disney Channel’s Games concert and was ever the gracious artist.

Miley appeared at the Disney fest without participating in the red carpet and missed any opportunity to comment on the scandal that still shows no signs of slowing.

Fans were in a whirlwind of euphoria as the singer previewed two new tracks from her forthcoming album. She performed “Fly on the Wall” and “Breakout” to the crowd’s delight.

The Jonas Brothers joined their former tour-mate on stage and performed a multi-song set as well. Cheetah Girls and Jordan Pruitt also appeared.

Ricky Schroder, all grown up - and with child

April 5th, 2008 by Lausann Gelez

Ricky Schroder: I think he was my first celebrity crush, and all because of his show, Silver Spoons. I used to take my clunky little tape recorder over to the TV and record the show so I could listen to it later… again and again. (Hey, come on — I was a pre-teen. And much of the world was pre-VCR.)

Here’s Ricky — “the Rickster” — as he was back in the very early 80s:

Ricky Schroder of Silver Spoons

As all child stars eventually do — assuming they live long enough to hit their twenties — little Ricky grew up (and changed his name to Rick Schroder) and got about as un-Hollywood as an actor can: He got married. Converted to Mormonism. Had four kids. Bought and moved to a 45,000-acre cattle ranch in Colorado. Joined the NRA. Gave a speech endorsing George W Bush in 2000. Oh yeah, and got back into acting with a stint on NYPD Blue (and more recently appeared in a recurring role on 24 with Kiefer Sutherland).

Rick Schroder attended the “Street Kings” Premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood on April 3 — and he brought along his eldest child, 16-year-old Holden. Take a look at the cute little towheaded superstar of yesteryear, with his teenage son, here:

Punky Brewster finally popped

March 18th, 2008 by Allison

Soleil Frye Moon, better known to most as Punky Brewster, gave birth yesterday to a baby girl, Jagger Joseph Blue Goldberg. This is her second child with husband Jason Goldberg. Jagger joins her 2 year old sister, Poet Sienna Rose, in the Hollywood club of “Children of Famous Parents with Odd Names.” Congrats Punky!

***Though perhaps you may want to save the photo, below, as a reminder that one should not wear a puffy jacket when pregnant unless one wishes to bear an uncanny resemblance to a charred marshmallow.***
