Billie Jean
Performed by David Cook
The hot song of the night, David Cook nailed Chris Cornell’s version, but the song is what sent Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to its position as one of the top selling records of all time. You might wonder how this song qualifies for a contestant who was born in 1982. Jackson’s “Thriller” may have been 1983’s top album, but “Billie Jean” was released in 1982 and set the stage for “Thriller” to take its lofty position in pop music history.
Now watch Michael Jackson perform his iconic 80s hit:
And here’s Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden fame) doing his acoustic, solo arrangement. Which version do you like best?

When I first heard David singing, I was like ” I know this song.. BUt what is it..” Then I hum it and I just realized that it was Michael Jackson’s song.. I was like “Wow, David is really cool tonight”
Now I don’t know who to vote for…
David Archuleta, David Cook, Michael Johns or Brooke White??
